Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has indicated that the exchange would comply with U.S. regulations by delisting Tether (USDT) if required. This statement comes amidst ongoing discussions about the regulatory landscape for stablecoins in the United States.

USDT meaning: What is it?

Tether (USDT) is a stablecoin that maintains a 1:1 value with the US dollar, meaning it is backed by an equivalent amount of fiat currency held in reserve. Introduced in 2014, USDT has become a crucial component of the cryptocurrency market, widely used for trading and transactions across various platforms.

Coinbase CEO: Exchange Would Delist Tether if Required by U.S. Law

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has stated that the cryptocurrency exchange would remove Tether (USDT) from its U.S. platform if new legislation mandates such an action. Armstrong made these remarks during an interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. He also noted that he anticipates future U.S. legislation to require stablecoin issuers to hold 100% of their reserves in U.S. Treasury bonds and to pass audits. While Armstrong acknowledged Tether's role in the crypto ecosystem as a bridge for users to transition between cryptocurrencies, he emphasized that Coinbase would comply with any future U.S. regulations.
